Police Officer
This
job involves looking after the New Zealand in a proactive and efficient way. You have to be responsible and be
able to stay calm.
As a police
officer you may need to go on foot patrols, help in emergencies, and
investigate crimes and crashes as well as sudden death. You also may need to
interview people, make reports, arrest criminals and give evidence in court.
As a police
officer you may work shifts and you may have to work on holidays and popular
days off as well as be at risk of physical and verbal abuse.
There are a range
of fields in the police which officers can undertake in addition to doing
patrols. These specializations include: dog handler, Armed Offenders Squad,
Detective and Police Education Officer.
Police officer
need to undergo 19 weeks of The Royal
New Zealand Police College training and have a driver’s license. The RNZPC
is north of Wellington in Paremata.
Economist
As an economist
you collect, study and analyze information looking for patterns in the economy.
With these patterns economists try to make predictions and with this develop
polices and plans.
As an economist
you have to write and deliver report and advise businesses and the government.
To be a good
economist you need to have good research skills, problems solving skills and
good decision skills. You also need good communication skills, project
management skills and good presentation.
To be an encomiast
you need a degree in some sort of finance and math, stats and philosophy are
helpful. You can get an economics degree from Victoria
university in Wellington .
Share broker
Share Brokers trade and sells shares and
other securities through the stock exchange for clients and you need to be able
to build up a customer base. You also advise clients about investment and need
to have good communication skills.
As a share broker you need to need to
comply with rules set in New Zealand and stay up to date on you investments and on the market rules.
As a share broker there are two
specializations. You can offer personalized
advice to your clients based on your research or you can be a share broker who
just makes the trades of the shares.
Too become a share broker you should have
skills such as communication, sales skills, computer knowledge and analytical
skills. You also need to have good judgement and be able to work in a time and
keep information private.
As a share broker
you need English and Math credits, you also need a “National Certificate in Financial Services” as well as various
certificates and approval from various organizations like the NZX and the FMA.
You can get a “National Certificate in Financial Services”
from Open Polytechnic and WELTEC.
